Tanagers
Tanagers are found from Canada all the way to central Argentina. The greatest variety is found in the dense forests of Central and South America. There are over two hundred species of tanagers found in the Americas, which come in many beautiful color variations.
Diet : Fruits and/or insects, depending on the species. These birds are very important to seed dispersal for trees and shrubs in the tropics.
Paradise tanager (Tangara chilensis)

Description : This brightly-colored bird has a black neck, shoulders, back and tail accented by a brilliant sky blue on the breast, belly (black in center). While the inside area of the wing is also sky blue, the edges are purple. Their heads are yellowish-green and they have a red or yellow-red rump. Beaks and legs are black.
Blue-gray tanager (Thraupis episcopus)
Length : 6 inches
Weight : 35 grams
Description : The head, throat, and under parts are a pale gray with a greenish-blue tinge and the back is a darker blue-gray. The tail and wings are a bright blue. The female is generally duller and grayer than the male.
Blue and yellow tanager (Thraupis bonariensis)
Description : Blue head and chin with grayish-blue upperparts and bright yellow under parts.
